I had this working before I rebuilt the system software... When it worked, I had installed Palm Desktop for Vista in Vista Home Premium, synching (well, set with "handheld overwrites desktop") to Outlook '07 using the Palm native conduits over BT. The BT was done via a Microsoft branded BT dongle and Microsoft BT drivers. I subsequently upgraded to Vista Ultimate and it still worked.
Due to unrelated self-inflicted problems, I had to reformat the system. It is now Vista Ultimate, and the BT is now via a Kensington branded microdongle (so I can leave it plugged in all the time) using Toshiba drivers. Palm Desktop for Vista has been installed, and Outlook '07 is installed. My Treo 680 has been paired with the computer. It's seen as a modem for dialup use. When I have both the Vista computer on and BT on on the Treo, the blue icon on the Treo goes into "connecting" state and stays there. When I try to initiate a hotsync, it aborts with an error that the port is in use by an unspecified something else. Rebooting the computer or the Treo does not help. For completeness sake, it does not matter if I have Hotsync Manager set to sync to Palm Desktop or Outlook, the same thing happens. I don't care about actually +syncing+ the data to the Vista machine, I merely want to push my data to it by default. The Vista machine is a laptop, which is why I want to get this working via BT so I don't have to worry about Yet Another Cable if I can avoid it. Particularly since I'll likely be moving away from Palm in a couple of months. -- Jeffrey Kaplan www.gordol.org The from userid is killfiled Send personal mail to gordol "I see they trained you well back home."
