I just noticed this over at the datebk mailing list. I find it very odd and
disturbing (gmane.comp.handhelds.palm.datebk):

Subject: Treo 755P (Sprint) resetting when using DateBK 6.0 s5 + Teal Lock 6
Enterprise

<...Portion discussing Datebk6 removed...>

On another note, **to Sprint users and others**, I recently renewed my
Sprint contract and got a new Treo 755P and activated it, moving my
service over from my old phone.  One of the first things I did was
check the lifetimer and other info, and it showed my phone as having 0
minutes on lifetimer and it did not indicate my phone was
reconditioned.  This is good since it is supposed to be a brand new phone.

Anyway, one of the next things i did was i connected to Yahoo Mail
using the phone's browser (Blazer)'s Messages->Yahoo Mail links.
Right after I tapped on the Yahoo Mail link, I got taken directly into
a stranger's e-mail account!  I didn't have to enter any login/pw.
This made me think the phone isn't brand new and that Sprint simply
wiped out all data and even lifetimer/reconditioned status info and
resold it as new (although they shipped from warehouse and this was
not at a store, making that less likely?)...  i signed out of the
stranger's yahoo mail account and signed in with my own info... then i
signed out and made sure not to save my login info in cookies or
whatnot, when asked during login.  I tried getting to Yahoo Mail using
the phone's browser again and get the login prompt with blank fields
to enter my login/pw, as should be expected.. i tried 3 times more and
things looked like they were working right finally.  then, the next
day, i get on Yahoo Mail from the phone's browser again, tap on Yahoo
Mail and get taken directly into this stranger's Yahoo Mail again, w/o
entering a login/pw!

So last night I did a hard reset and didn't install a single thing.. i
then went on Yahoo Mail using the browser in the phone again and was
taken into the stranger's e-mail again!  This morning, I wake up and
try again and I get the yahoo blank login fields again, as should be
expected...

so I'm at a loss as to what's going on and wonder if any other people
here have experienced this and know what the likely issue is..
previous to this new Treo 755P, I used a Sanyo flip phone that was
preowned.  I wonder if someone when I moved to my new Treo 755P, my
online data was crossed with this stranger's who perhaps owned the
phone before me (i got off ebay)... if I do a hard reset, then that
would mean it couldn't be any cookies stored on my phone causing this
right?  as in, the phone was used and the previous owner's cached info
was on the phone when i got it...  or perhaps the cached info is on
Sprint's servers.

If anyone might know what is causing this, I would greatly appreciate
your feedback and help.

It makes me uneasy knowing there are such security holes...
