I'm having a problem synching my Treo to Outlook.

Setup: Treo 680, Windows Vista Ultimate, MS Office Outlook 2007, Pocket
Mirror conduits.

Problem: When I start Outlook, I get this error message:

(Title bar): Identity switch cancelled
(Message box): The current identity could not be changed because one of
the applications was unable to switch. Close any open dialog boxes in
other applications before trying again.

There is only the OK button. Click it, and Outlook opens fine.

So, I deleted the only identity listed in Outlook.

Then Outlook refused to start until I created an identity. So,
figuring that the identity I deleted had a different name from my
computer login, I named the new single identity the same as my computer
login, and set it up with no email (I only use Outlook for the PIM
functionality).

I still get that same error.

Now for the problem with syncing:

Now, I'm getting an error popup while synching that the identity is not
valid. If I click OK often enough, it goes through anyway.

This computer is not my main system, I have the PIM conduits set to
"handheld overwrites desktop" as the default action. On my main
system, using the same Treo, the same version of the conduits and the
same version of Outlook, but in XP Pro, it works just fine.

IIRC, the only thing that changed between when it worked and when it
broke was that I may have configured email in Outlook to try it out. I
don't actually remember if I did that with this computer or the other
one. In any case, I have since removed the email configuration.

It would appear that the problem isn't the syncing itself per se, but
rather something wonky with Outlook. Can anyone here help me?
