I think the Blackberry does both CDMA and GSM in their "World Phone" 8800 series device sold through Verizon. It's not as hard as one might think being a radio guy.
This is the kind of thing palm needs to do. In the past they've just put out the barebones and has lost market share through the years. For them to have a chance to survive as a company and steal buys back from the iPhones, Blackberries, Nokias, etc they need a technologically advanced device. Something that people will say I want that. But not that many people are world travelers so they need a few more suprises. Hopefully the Linux software will have some too. CDMA and GSM are two completely different technologies. To "support" both on a single device is a hardware issue more than a software one - the phone would require two cellular radios. So you'd be talking about a phone with five, maybe six completely different radios (one for BT, one for WiFi, one for CDMA, one for GSM, and one for GSM data).
