I have three Seidio connectors, and FINALLY all seem to be not working.
I have known for awhile that the retractable cable has been
problematic. I thought cleaning the contacts fixed the connection
problem, but then --
The older of the Inno Docks started having problems. In both cases,
the same as Jim's -- the PC's USB would fail to recognize. But the Inno
Jr would work fine.
But the past few days, the Inno Jr started the same problem.
Finally, I pulled out the OEM cable - and it seems to be working
just fine.
Note the FINALLY in the first sentence. All three Seidio units are,
although not old, well used. The Dock is at work (new 5/2007), the Inno
Jr at home (new 10/07) and the retractable in my on-the-road bag (new
back when I had a 600.
I'd like to think they are not the problem, since spending the cost
of replacement is not high on my list of things I'd like to do. Also,
I'd like to think they're simple enough to be virtually fail safe.
Maybe the virtually unused OEM cable will stop working later today
and I'll know the problem lies elsewhere. But for now, it's another
thought to Jim's troubleshooting process.
