I'm not convinced that the lack of an SD card is a huge downside. I certainly
have more content than that (I could fill my 160GB iPod if I wanted to put
everything on it), but for now the highest microSD is 16GB. That may go up to
32GB in 2009, but as all of us expand our music and video libraries, this is a
"race" that solid state memory will never "win." With Orb, you can access
everything on your PC (terabytes of content if you want) wirelessly. They have
it for WM devices and maybe others now, I don't doubt you'll have something
similar to this for WebOS. This is kind of like the cloud I guess except that
you host all your content at home on your home PC. With Hulu, YouTube,
Pandora, and Last.FM allowing you to stream lots of commercial and
non-commercial audio and video, SprintTV there for live events, there's not a
whole lot left. One nice addition would be if I could use my Netflix instant
watch to stream movies. I know I'm not alone but I haven't heard of plans to
do this.

I think all of this kind of leads to a divide in the way of thinking about
audio and video. Some people still like the ownership model. They don't trust
companies to give them unending access and want to "own" an album or song and
keep it forever. I can understand wanting this for personal audio video or
photos, but for commercial stuff, I think we are not TOO far off from a day
when it's all out there and we pay some kind of all-you-can-eat rental fee that
either gets attached to our internet connection plan, or directly to some
association of artists. Maybe not in the next few years, but I'm guessing
within the next 15 or 20 at any rate...
