[Treo] Centro & ActiveSync

I'm switching a friend's Sprint Centro over from traditional HotSync to 
ActiveSync.  When I enable ActiveSync for the first time, will I get duplicates 
in my Calendar & Contacts?  Should I do a hard reset and then enable 
ActiveSync?  Is there a proper procedure for doing this switch-over?  Thanks!
