Art - Thanks (although the diagram is too small to be legible.)
Basically what I am trying to do is preserve the integrity of the data that is synced via cable between TimeMatters (a SQL database which I use for practice management) and my Treo 755p. The critical data is in the 4 original Palm databases (contacts, tasks, memopad and events). I also sync case information and billing information via applets which are specialized for TimeMatters. I am less fussy about my email, and actually welcome the opportunity to 'synchronize' my email across my office system and my netbook (and anywhere else, for that matter). Typically at the end of the day after hotsyncing my Treo with TimeMatters' conduits, I then use TimeMatters' Outlook synchronization routine, then allow Outlook to update the Exchange server. But field matching is not perfect. For instance, Outllook refuses to pass the second lines of addresses through, or any of my custom fields, even though I have properly set up field matching between TimeMatters and Outlook, and this ends up breaking the functionality of Agendus on the Treo (I know, I know, multiple platforms, software and data, a recipe for disaster, but I've been doing things this way for years and years now). I recognize that: (1) TimeMatters is eventually not going to remain workable (LexisNexis has other designs on it); (2) I will eventually have to figure out a way to get Outlook to do what I want, vis a vis category changing, field propery manipulation, and other more complicated stuff; and (3) the Treo and Garnet will go the way of all silicon and the 'only true way' will be Exchange or whatever its latest iteration is, via the WebOS. It's even possible I'll end up affiliated with a firm requiring blackberries (at which point I'll definitely be on Exchange). So the bottom line is I'm trying to inch ever closer to a hosted solution, and really just need to figure out a way to reconfigure Outlook to do what I want it to do, at which point I won't care that Activesync completely mucks up my Treo data (because it won't any more). Sigh. Sorry about the length. Such are the frustrations of a control freak. Harold [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
