Early versions of Sprint's (or was it Palm's?) documentation listed tethering as an option. Then it was yanked. There are two reasons for that.
One, while the Pre has the inherent capability, I'm guessing they put the software development on the back burner. It's a very busy kitchen right now. Yes, it may be hackable, but the Pre is an amazingly complex device, so I'm sure Palm, or maybe a 3rd party, will release this when they've spent the time to fully test it. I'm also sure it will work with either Bluetooth or USB. Two, this is not covered in Sprint's Simple Everything plan, no matter how ironic that sounds. Tethering is available as an option to the SE plans. I'm guessing they made a marketing decision to downplay this as a feature. Can the Pre can be used as a modem for a laptop, but only with a cable? George -----Original Message----- From: Don Ferguson [snip] I am still putting the Pre through its paces, and I will still lament the loss of Bluetooth tethering and removable media, but for $30/month in savings compared to the BB with BES, I think I can live without it.
