Alas, Palm was late in releasing its Mojo SDK to third-party developers. That worked for Apple, which had spent an entire year playing coy about native apps before launching the App Store. But it didn't work for Palm, who really needed to be competitive with Apple's App Store right out of the gate.
Nonetheless, plenty of enterprising developers have figured out ways around the problem. Plus, they're not getting any resistance from the powers-that-be. Palm doesn't even mind if you install apps they don't distribute, a process known as 'jailbreaking,' , unlike that other touch screen cell phone company. That leaves the field wide open for some powerful hacks. If you're looking to get the most out of your Palm Pre, and don't mind getting your hands a little dirty in the process, try these out. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2352009,00.asp -- Tony Cooke www.tonycooke.talktalk.net
