You actually don't jailbreak a Pre - it's already 'Jailbroken'. And the
term 'Rooting' is tossed around incorrectly. The Pre already has the
root user enabled from the factory. All you need to do is access it,
palm even provides directions on their website.

There is nothing to hack to gain access to the underlying Linux
platform. Palm left it wide open, we like them for that :)

I've installed a SSH server on the Pre, and have a client that runs on
my desktop which pulls any new pictures from my Pre, and places them
into my 'My Dropbox' folder, so I can access them from all 3 of my PCs.

Essentially, as soon as I take a picture on my Pre, it's on my 3 PCs.
Pretty slick.

I have nightly backups being taken of my entire 8GB internal memory too.

Next, over the air Music Sync. (Preferably Wifi only :) I love this
phone.

Subject: [Treo] Hack Your Palm Pre

Alas, Palm was late in releasing its Mojo SDK to third-party developers.

That worked for Apple, which had spent an entire year playing coy about
native apps before launching the App Store. But it didn't work for Palm,

who really needed to be competitive with Apple's App Store right out of
the gate.

Nonetheless, plenty of enterprising developers have figured out ways
around the problem. Plus, they're not getting any resistance from the
powers-that-be. Palm doesn't even mind if you install apps they don't
distribute, a process known as 'jailbreaking,' , unlike that other touch

screen cell phone company.

That leaves the field wide open for some powerful hacks. If you're
looking to get the most out of your Palm Pre, and don't mind getting
your hands a little dirty in the process, try these out.
