In my area (Greater Philadelphia) Verizon is worth it, because the inability to communicate makes a smartphone a very expensive brick. As a longtime subscriber to the once-upon-time Cingular now AT&T, there are simply too many deadzones in my neck of the forest.
I'm still not convinced the Pre is the way to go. My Treo 755p has become increasingly stable as developers abandon Garnet. I have only one issue which produces occaional resets, and I'm working on taming that monster. Otherwise, my Treo 755p gives me almost everything I need in a smartphone. My decision still rests between the Pre Plus (which will cost me less than $50) and a Blackberry Tour 2 "Essex" when that comes out on Verizon. Finally, if, in fact, the iphone is really coming out on Verizon --- as we may learn as early as tomorrow ---- I may completely reassess my situation. I'm an old dog who doesn't like to learn new tricks. I still take my T|X with me occasionally when I travel. Darn it, it works and does what it's supposed to do without my having to change my workstyle to fit its vicissitudes. Harold [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
