Setting the primary link in Contact also determines which name is displayed
James Brown in your contacts could have Jimbo Brown as his name on Facebook and
that could be the display name. I have had contactswith their email as the
display name and couldn't search for them by name because the email was the
primary link.

Also you may have an email only contact that you may want to link to a contact
as well.

Let me clarify something about Contacts in webOS and Synergy:

Profiles from the same person that come from different sources are

(e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) are "linked" in Contacts to form one

single contact record, but they are never fused together to alter the

data on the originating sites . In fact, the only profiles you can

actually edit are those in Google Contacts, Exchange, and your Palm

Profile (i.e., if you're not using a cloud service). You set a

"default" source (I use Google) and all changes to the record go into

that default profile.

Now, for each person, you can set the primary profile; this is the one

webOS uses for the picture (if there are different pictures on various

profiles) and the formatting of the name, but all other data (e.g.,

telephone numbers) are just combined on the device and shown in a

list.

So, to sum up, Synergy "virtually" combines disparate profiles on your

device, but doesn't change any of them through the linking process.

If you change any data about that person, it changes it in the default

record only.

I suggest you play a bit with it if you don't fully get all the "what

if" scenarios; dummy records are easy to create, edit, and delete once

you understand the ramifications of doing different things.
