One thing I'm going to miss in the swap from AT&T to Sprint was my Treos 
have all been unlocked and off system - the latter to mean I didn't buy 
them in an AT&T store, and all I had to do to make them work was move 
the SIM. So AT&T didn't require me to buy a data plan, because it didn't 
sell me the phone.
      I wonder can you simply go online and activate a different phone 
with VZW? It wouldn't be as easy as swapping a SIM, but if you already 
have a Centro/VZW phone, maybe ...
