OK, I understand the fear of losing categorization. I certainly use it in my contacts. I haven't switched to Pre yet, because I'm wanting a GSM version. I think your best solution may be to get Pocket Mirror from Chapura. They've created a local sync via wifi that has task and note synchronization with categorization. They have slowly been integrating all of the four primary PIM apps that we grew to love on Garnet to Sync with Outlook and have completed them all now.
