OK, figured it out...I think. It looks like it's an issue with how the Yahoo! Groups email service is parsing messages sent from the Pre that have more than 1 level of embedded reply.
So, if you are quoting text that itself quoted text (or deeper) and using the Pre to do so, how it formats the quoted text is not being understood by Yahoo! Whose fault that is is beyond me, although Gmail seems to parse it just fine...so I'm guessing it's Yahoo! not keeping up with modern formatting standards.
