The email and sms gone is difficult to understand. You need to confirm the settings. This could happen only if the emails from server are deleted. This has not happened to me. Is this the default rom or some other. Check if that's not the problem. There's a software called sms backup which help in backing up software to google email account. The moment a meggage appears, it would be backed up on google which can be axcessed.
