Someone pointed out and I verified that it is still there and just disabled. 
One could go to Device Info and then select Enable Media Sync from the drop 
down menu.

So nothing is lost for those who use it.

Ok, just tried syncing some podcasts with my 9.0.1 version of iTunes and it

worked fine in 1.4.  I understand the point though that potentially you

could have a problem, but seems to me that shouldn't matter too much.  If

and when Palm disables this for ALL prior iTunes versions (something I don't

think it has much motivation for doing, but who knows if someone actually

buys them that could change things), I'd simply switch to Doubletwist or

something similar...
