[Treo] Edit shortcuts

There are what appear to be editing shortcuts on the Pre's Edit menu, 
but darned if I can make them work. They comprise a "target" symbol 
pluse a letter for Cut, Copy, Paste and Select All.
      Alas, while they seem to imply that those letters plus the Orange 
or Shift key would invoke the desired command ...
      or am I just not holding my mouth (or fingers) right?
