Adobe seems incompetant. They were originally supposed to have it out at launch (last June) then October, then first half of 2010, now 2nd half. There are rumors of a public beta in May/June timeframe, but that beta may be limited to a small number of users, if it's even real. I've given up on them. Flash would have been nice, but Adobe's lack of reaching any deadline to me is just another sign that HTML5 will eventually (and now maybe even sooner) take over. Think about it, yes, there are many more PC's out there, but the smartphone and iPad market has been growing so fast that it's gobbling up lots of market share. If these devices can't run Flash, it doesn't matter that Flash has a big installed base of apps and sites, those apps and sites will be ported sooner or later to HTML5 in order to grab some of the growing smartphone/tablet marketshare. Adobe needs to get this out yesterday. Either they don't understand Flash's precarious position, or it's just incredibly challenging to get it working on lighter hardware. In either case, it seems doomed.
