Thanks Craig - a good start and at the core of WebOS strengths!! Turns out b. is the only one of those I really care about, though. Actually, d. might be an issue, going from the Curve the Pre to the Evo will be from medium to small to large. Large might be a little, well, large. I guess I could go see the TMo version of this and find out.
OK, and e. does tug at my heartstrings, but COME ON! This thing has been out for a year and it still doesn't have a voice recorder, still can't capture numbers correctly in the call log? Still has only the most basic configurability of ringtones and vibration (both of which are, from day one through today, inferior to the Treo/Centro). Still has almost Blackberry-like management of emoticons in text (which was done elegantly in the earliest Treos and the Centro). Still can't add back in something as simple and productive as "Ignore with Text" to not answer a phone call. Palm is irritating me a bit, and the things I want are so SIMPLE! And the Evo is big and shiny!! Did I mention that the Evo is big and shiny? Hey, did you see the screen on that Evo? Other things that WebOS can't do?? Others? I've been talking with a few folks who've been comparing webOS to Android and here are some (although this is by no means an exhaustive list): a. Synergy does its job of combining social PIM far better than Android does. b. De-combining munged contacts on Android is much more painful than webOS' elegant approach c. Managing open/running apps is far easier on webOS d. Palm's phones are smaller (in case that matters) e. You're supporting the underdog, the fighting everyman, of the phone industry f. webOS integrates with more social networks than Android currently does (LinkedIn, Yahoo!, etc.) Others? - Craig On Mon, Apr 19, 2010 at 8:58 PM, Don Ferguson <[email protected] <mailto:don%40ferguson.us> > wrote: > . . . actually rationalizing, probably.
