Let's see, to Craig's list I'd add an easier entry for developers. You might not want to develop, but the Ares development environment just reached 1.0 and they are waving the developer program fee, so I'm signing up and going to finally start playing with it. Just saying that even if the app you want isn't currently out there, it might not take very much convincing to get a tinkerer to try creating something, or even doing something yourself.
If you've spend money on apps already, it just means yet another investment in those apps that charge, not something that I'd be looking forward to on top of the additional cost of the EVO. Oh, there is an alpha/beta homebrew audio recorder called Precorder, I haven't tried it yet but one of Craig's fellow Real Reviewers apparently just recorded an hour of audio in "pretty good quality." I agree that there are lots of wholes like this in core functionality and the OS that Palm needs to fill. To be fair, they have done lots of updates, and I think we'd all be a little less impatient if Adobe had gotten their act together and come out with Flash for it, but at least there will be a beta within 2 months (if you believe the rumors). I know Android is slated to get Flash as well, but I don't konw if it's in the same timeframe. The other thing is that there are rumors of a 2nd gen WEBOS device in the works, possibly coming out this summer, and possibly with 4G. My thought is that when this comes out, we'll have a lot clearer picture of whether Palm will be hanging in there for another year or so, or whether it's too little too late. It's going to need to compete with the EVO as well as the new Apple iPhones that will be coming out in a couple of months, so it will need to be beefy and impressive, and if it's only a marginal improvement in terms of hardware, I fear that a decent chunk of those who are hanging on to WebOS will finally leave. Personally, I'm willing to wait it out, but of course not forever. These other devices are cool, but my only big beef with my Pre right now is that even with the 800mhz patch, it can get laggy and freeze up, and the battery can get eaten alive, although newer scaling patches are apparently showing promise in avoiding this. So I can wait, and indeed have another year+ before my contract runs out. I don't want to (and knowing me probably won't) wait THAT long, but I want to at least wait till I know what the next Palm device is going to look like as well as find out what their fate is in terms of a buyout, etc. If that happens soon and the buyer suggests they are going to stop making WebOS phones, sure, I'm all over Android, but until that happens, fore me anyway, it's wait and see...
