Exactly, and it sort of does. Part of my dissatisfaction is the email client on the Pre - if I delete from the Pre inbox, it also removes from the Google inbox (that's good) but it fills up the Pre's Trash folder and I have to go periodically remember to empty it.
If I delete from the PC (which POPs to Google), Google does not delete from its Inbox - even though Thunderbird is selected to remove from the server (actually, to NOT leave on the server). Then when the Pre IMAP updates, it gets everything it has not previously received from Google - including stuff I've deleted when I read it on the PC. Oh, and I like the idea of having my archive on my PC because actually my PC is a laptop and I'm not always using it where I have Internet access but need to refer to an old email. So - what I want is to read stuff on the Pre, but only delete stuff I know I want never to re-see - THEN download the same stuff on the PC, this time sorting into appropriate folders. Google's Inbox then would be empty (the part that's not happening with POP). I think I'll try IMAP on the PC and see how having it on both the PC and Pre works out. I think I know what's going to happen, but I'll try it anyway. On 5/31/2010 11:17 AM, ldouglas wrote: > it sounds like you currently have IMAP on the Pre and POP on the > desktop.
