It's hard for me to believe that this is all due to limitations within
WebOS. Sure there are issues, but plenty of programmers have learned to
work with them/around them and get the functionality that they need. Not
that Palm should fix these limitations asap, but HOPEFULLY WebOS 2.0 will
make a lot of these irrelevant.

Evernote already has a ton of platforms and WebOS is their smallest
userbase, so it's obvious that they made a business decision to devote the
resources proportional to that userbase, thus a tiny amount compared to
other platforms. Obviously that was not enough to deal with the issues in
any kind of timely way, and so probably EN just decided that instead of
giving people false hope, they'd just announce they were halting WebOS
development, deal with some initial bad feelings from the WebOS community
rather than months of constant complaining. I don't think that decision was
a bad one, but I do question the timing. I can see it happening either
before HP bought them, or in the first few months after the announcement.
But now is when HP is (supposedly) about to unveil the specifics for new
devices and WebOS 2.0. Seems a bit odd that they'd be doing this right
before then, but I suppose they also want to guage how these new devices
will actually do in the market, and they probably won't be able to tell that
until they've been out for at least a couple of months and can see whether
they are selling and much greater rates than the Pre and Pre Plus. Then
again, it's certainly possible that they might have gotten some insider
information about said devices and come to their own conclusion that they
wouldn't do anything to increase Palm's userbase much.

Who knows.

In any case, while I certainly like Evernote, I hardly would base my
decision of what kind of phone to buy on it. I know for some it's much more
central, just not me...
