I ordered one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T8JGX7T

as my SSD is 2280 M.2 B

I will report back on what I find out.

Paul,

You might try an adapter to check it in another computer. I use an external
SATA-to-USB cable when doing things like checking drives on my Linux PC. You
can get one of these adapters from Amazon for $6.35 + $2 ship to adapt the Dell
form factor to SATA:

My laptop crashed. It says no hard drive detected. This is a Dell Inspiron

Sata M.2 256GB. Here is a listing on Ebay for a used one:

Does anyone have one of these (or compatible form factor) that I could try
putting into my machine to try

to determine if it is the drive or the motherboard that has failed? Any other
ideas?
