of course I really meant... --nodeps is my friend. I only use it when I know what I want to do... most of the times, again for me, rpms are a pain. I picked Linux so long ago because I like to do stuff my way, not someone elses. I like the untar/compile/install cycle for just that reason. I prefer configuring the package the way I want it and putting it where I want it to go. So I often do run into the scenario where a package is installed, just not via rpm.
