can't cut and past cause no public interface but ifconfig does not see eth0 at all it sees eth1 with internal IP of 192.168.1.1, and always the standard loopback,

What happens if you run "ifup eth0" to bring

up the eth0 interface

"manually"?

if eth0 failed
tried restarting network always brings up eth1
but not eth0

connection file

use so maybe I can look at to see anything

that stands

out? Or can someone help?
