Prior to yesterday's revelation we have not pinged the printer because we
were focusing on the driver and settings for parity and xonoff and other
possibilites steming from the computer side of the fence.

We are now convinced that the trouble exists in the JetDirect or the HP4300,
either in the hardware or software.  We will do more tests next time it
takes a hike... which will probably be in the next 2 days.
