You must pick your battles. There are times when you may need to troubleshoot for hours and then there are times just to replace the machine. Time is money, and in a production environment if you "waste" time doing unnecessary troubleshooting you may be spending more of your time looking for a job.

i'm not suggesting that reloading a system is appropriate in all cases.  i
merely put it out there as a method to ensure pristine code.
