I noticed recently that I can not check my trilug mail from home, but I can from work. I use the same laptop in both places. I thought it might be a problem with my own firewall, or perhaps a blocked port. So I tried this test.

FROM WORK
---------
"telnet mail.trilug.org 993" connects OK
"telnet mail.trijug.org 993" connects OK   (note different server)


FROM HOME --------- "telnet mail.trilug.org 993" hangs "telnet mail.trijug.org 993" connects OK (note different server)


It's not my mail client... I am using the same laptop. It's not outbound port 993 being blocked. It's not my firewall rules.

What could this be?
