Sorry to hijack this thread (seems to have run out for now anyway), but I was wondering if there were any thoughts on using the Linksys NSLU2 and Debian (or other Linux based firmware replacements) to build a networked DVR.
The one sticking point that I can see is the video output. It looks like you can get a USB to s-video cable, although they seem to be aimed at capturing video to a PC, not the other way around. Maybe there are more promising solutions out there. Any thoughts? Other devices out there that would be more suitable? Thanks. -- Owen On Sat, Jul 30, 2005 at 07:03:59PM -0400, Kevin Flanagan wrote: > I went to look up the USB 2.0 spec, 480Mbits/second is fairly fast, you > could use something like this > > http://peter.korsgaard.com/articles/debian-nslu2.php > > To hang the drives off of, I'd be sure to use as many of the USB chanels > as possible to avoid contention, but for not much dough you could have a > fairly decent config. > -- TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/ TriLUG PGP Keyring : http://trilug.org/~chrish/trilug.asc
