In general I would agree with you, however in one particular case no.
They had TWC phone and switched to Vonage to save money. With TWC it
worked prefectly. Vonage has given them nothing but problems.
Don't mean to bash Vonage at all, just reporting a first hand experience.

I'll wager that the happy TWC customer would be just as happy with
Vonage - since their connectivity is good. They might even be happier
with Vonage since they would get more features for less cost.
