I use an xbox running freevo on Xebian as an A/V jukebox hooked up to my tv. Playback is not so fancy and I don't use it for ripping, but it works well, I like it, and my girlfriend has no trouble playing movings and music. I added a webserver and a web based playlist editor, which she uses to make playlists from her computer, which, I think, it much easier than trying to do it with a remote.
