I think the machine should be able to handle it rather well. I have built a web/e-mail/listserv service for about 50 churches on this type of equipment and it works well (hosted on my work T1). I haven't run into any problems with processing capability yet. I also host my personal website(s) at home on my Roadrunner connection.
1) Someone else can answer this. I think there was a thread on this topic in the last week or so? 2) Someone else can answer this as well. My site is built using Frontpage (my wife likes it) so I didn't research this. She doesn't want to take the time to learn NVU. 3) Absolutely. It should run the website with little trouble. I am using similar hardware to host about 20 individual websites with varying traffic levels. I will replace the machine when I see it is overly taxed. We are nowhere near that point now. 4) The server I built at home is rock solid. I have however seen the Roadrunner connection go down a few times. On a professional level I have not been impressed with their uptime. I do realize however that I am paying for a home internet connection and expecting business class service. 5) I use no-ip.com for the dynamic dns service. Their linux client is easy to configure and I run the whole domain (web/e-mail/ftp) off of it. I would highly recommend it. 6) Mandriva is my distrubition of choice. This is a loaded question as there is likely someone on the list that will prefer all of the other distributions. I think Ubuntu has been fairly popular lately. They all run lamp so I'd go with the one you are most comfortable with. I started with Mandriva (Mandrake back then) and built my linux empire on it. :) On 12/9/05, Chad Thomsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Howdy.
