I still use my SL5500...Using NotesSync for address/cal/todo lists
between my windows AND linux machines. I also use an MA701 for
networking when I'm at a hotspot and use GAIM and all sorts of stuff.
Works great. Connected with M$ Exchange at my previous employer as well.
Oh, if you want linux connectivity with your PDA, I believe you need to
stick with either the 5500 or 6000. I know I chose the 5500 cause the
5600 said it would NOT connect natively, and the 6000 was too exp when I
bought mine (about 3 years ago). I still use the Sharp ROMs so I can't
speak for the open-source ones.
Anyway, enjoy!
Oh and you are really sick, you can use uCLinux and an old Palm.
Heh...no apps that I could find though...but if you're sick like me,
then that's what you do. (uCLinux on a Palm IIIxe and Handspring Visor)

I used a Zaurus SL5500 and loved it. The 5500, 5600, and 6000 can be found
for cheap
on ebay. Easy to hack and "fool around with".
Now I have my eye on the Nokia770.

Howdy,
I'm about to purchase a PDA, primarily for the usual calendar, contacts,
notes sortof thing. Given that many seem to have 802.11 support and
there are linux distros that *apparently* support them, I thought I may
as well try a hacker-friendly one to fool around with.
Anyone actively use/hack a linux-based PDA? Opie/Familiar? iPaq?
Thanks,
Kevin
