And by removing the DRM from the object, you are now in violation of the
Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA).  I'm not saying the law
is just, but it is the law.  It isn't worth going to jail over,
especially when there are other options available (as noted later in
this thread).

For very large values of "eventually" involving those of us who are
educated in these matters continuing to bring them to people's
attention.  Unfortunately, the battle isn't about being right (or it
would have been over by now) but about who has the most money.

Elections are coming up.  Who are the pro-consumer rights candidates?
