Don't worry

No it does not require Javascript for the login process. Anyway Javascript is 
necessary if you want to use some features of the website (for example the 
filters do not work if Javascript is not enabled)

About captcha:

Pay attention to the "l" and the "1" characters, they are almost equal (the "l" 
has no oblique lines)

Have you disabled your cookies? The captcha code is sent to the next page by 
means of a PHP session (and this require cookies to be enabled)

I hope that this could solve your problem with the account creation

This is a good idea.. a notice in the label of the password entry (in order to 
indicate the allowed characters) could be added..
