The memory amount and the CPU speed should be pretty irrelevant, Linux was  
originally developed for 386 and 486 processors and yours is still much more  
recent. The worst thing that could happen with a really old PC, it wouldn't  
be able to run a visual desktop environment. I never worked with such old PCs  
as yours, but I guess that at least Openbox will run well on it. If setting  
up Openbox is too difficult, you could also try LXDE, that one uses Openbox  
as the window manager.
