This morning there were some updates available so I tried updating from the  
GUI.  It failed.  When I check for updates they are downloaded but the  
rotating cursor continues to rotate and the install does not work, it just  
hangs as if waiting for the update to be completed.  If I kill the  
update-manager process and then re-run it the GUI works.  However, I am able  
to update and upgrade from the command line with no problem.
