Hi! I suspect that shortcut works as desired when using the standard metacity  
window manager, but in compiz --which is default in supported hardware-- it  
is bound to another operation. You can easily change the window manager to  
metacity with the command (you can enter it at the Alt+F2 prompt) "metacity  
--replace" without the quotes, or by disabling desktop effects in  
gnome-appearance-properties's last tab.
