Hello pietranera, In reply to your question about upgrade from 4.5 to 5.0.
1. I had problems booting the new kernel (as a workaround I booted with an old one by choosing from GRUB menu). Changing "splash" to "nosplash" for GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable in /etc/default/grub helped in my specific case. Now new kernel boots okay, I didn't investigated further. 2. There were also some problems reported during the upgrade. I did "aptitude update && aptitude upgrade", I think, several times (and/or "aptitude reinstall" for some specific packages -- don't remember clearly). And finally it's okay. 3. Still having uninvestigated (no time for that) problems with Transmission after upgrade. Sometimes it just ignores adding torrent to it. Worked okay in 4.5. 4. Network manager doesn't work seamlessly (but it didn't work good in 4.5 for me, so this is my specific problem during upgrade). My provider has 802.1x MD5 authentication over ethernet, I think my case is rarely used by people. After upgrade I tried to replace network-manager with wicd. Works better for me, but there are still cases where I should restart my network manually from command line interface. 5. I encountered some bugs in Abrowser 7.0.1. Some of them are solved already, some are not. But none of the bugs were blocking ones for me. Don't remember any other significant issues now. The best thing is that my hard disk encryption was not broken after the upgrade (the thing I was the most afraid of). :) Good luck! Michael.
