Just wanted to say that i've seen this:  
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Security#Potential_usage and have made  
my /var partition mount with the noexec option, like it was suggested there,  
and everything fell apart when updating Trisquel. I was getting "not  
permission" messages when installing the packages.

May work in Arch but not in Trisquel.
