Today, for someone who cannot avoid having a cell phone (and is not "brave" enough to have a FreeRunner), an "Android phone" probably is the freest choice... because most of the OS (i.e., not up to the drivers) can be replaced with CyanogenMod and the software repository can be replaced with F-Droid.
I doubt the Trisquel project will build upon proprietary software as Ubuntu
does. Replicant aims at building a 100% free Android-like OS. It is having
great troubles with missing free drivers.
