It's probably gown to a hardware issues. There are a lot of systems with  
buggy BIOSes for instance. There are hacks which work around some of the  
issues on some systems although the real fixes should be elsewhere.  
Unfortunately the situation is not good in a lot of cases. Even where things  
could in theory be fixed as the source code is available it doesn't always  
happen. More demand would help. Things are looking better every day though. I  
see it first hand.
