I have installed the said version in a virtual machine (both, with and  
without accessibility mode enabled) and I don't have a battery level  
indicator either.  (I have one in 5.5.)  Even if I hold down the Meta key and  
right click the panel, I don't get a menu where I thought I might be able to  
select adding the indicator.  There is an indicator in the top right corner  
of the login screen, though.  How did you get Orca to speak out the battery  
level in 5.5, Dave?  I couldn't get it to do that albeit the indicator being  
visible.  Did you install any additional accessibility packages?
