This could be a good thing if it forced Trisquel to move to putting out LTS based releases only. Moving to base Trisquel off LTS releases and updating a handful of individual packages (so a sort of partial rolling release) would be ideal I think.

Users would get updates to critical pieces like abrowser, linux-libre kernel, and hplip. It probably isn't necessary to update much else. Maybe libreoffice. The majority are better off with a stable release with solid long term support and few major changes.
