It's hard to judge fonts by some of their samples IMHO. I would have to see a sample document to make any informed decisions. But they have a nice sample for Albertan Pro, which I quite like: http://canadatype.net/assets/images/samples/albertanpro500x500.gif I'm not sure what the difference between the pro and non-pro versions would be. If someone decided to crowdfund for a font I liked, I would be happy to pay $50 (in BTC, once I get my hands on some). It won't be an easy task. It would take 600 users paying $50 each to make $30,000. We won't achieve that on this forum alone. It would take a great deal of work, organisation and marketing to pull it off. Andrew.
