I hate to rain on your parade, Chris, but I believe I've just found a
computer with better specs at a lower price.
The computer in question is the Gazelle Professional from System76.com. (I
can't link to them, as they recommend Ubuntu.) It has the same screen
resolution, the same battery and webcam, and a similar chiclet keyboard. As a
bonus, it includes a numerical keypad, a Kensington security lock, a wider
right shift key, and a memory card reader. I can get the same amount of
memory, 276 GB more storage (albeit only 256 GB of which is SSD), and a
faster and newer processor (4th Generation Intel Core i7-4900MQ). And all
this for $196 less.
There are three downsides. First, it's a fifth of an inch thicker than the
King Penguin. That's still thinner than my current laptop. Second, its wi-fi
card is Intel Centrino Advanced-N and not Atheros. I vaguely recall reading
that Intel was okay for wi-fi, but I might be wrong. Finally, it comes with
Ubuntu. That can be easily fixed.
