Now that you mentioned it lembas.One has to take in consideration the fact that some users, specially those new to the GNU+Linux world, or just new to GNU+Linux Trisquel, or those unsure about the hardware that they have, will most likely face problems early when using GNOME Shell.
For me, the point which you made is enough (at least for me) to keep GNOME Fallback as the default desktop environment.
