(In case I hadn't informed this forum already, I now have a Samsung Nexus S running Replicant. Now all my computing is fully free!)

I've installed a GPS app on the phone that requires 1.8 GB of map data (they don't have an option for my area, just all of Canada), but Replicant's Wi-Fi doesn't work, and my carrier gives me only 200 MB of data per month. I downloaded the map data onto my computer, and connected my phone. But I'm observing some unusual behaviour in the copying. The file manager copies ~300 MB of data to the phone in an instant, and suddenly slows to a crawl of about a megabyte per second. But the file operations window claims it's copying at a much higher speed, and the time reflects that. The copying speed displayed by the file manager and the actual copying speed continue to fall as the copying progresses. If I go long enough I get an error message, which I can't remember right now, but will post if I see it again.

My latest attempt failed because I bumped the cable. Bad luck.
